Recently, Ted Dibiase, a dear friend of mine from my wrestling days, and now a brother in Christ, called to tell me that Steve Williams, (Dr. Death in wrestling circles) a 4 time All-American in college wrestling, and all Big-Eight guard on our football team, and a dear friend, who wrestled for me for many years, has been diagnosed with throat cancer.

According to Ted, they recommended taking out the voice box, but Steve wanted another opinion, and the second doctor said for him to undergo chemo, and see----------which he is doing now.

I believe he is under care by MD Anderson's in Houston.

Steve called me today, and left a message on my voice mail------and with a voice so raspy it sounded totally hoarse, he let me know-----with that tremendous spirit he has always had-----that he would 'whip this too.'

He also related how much he appreciates the 'prayer warriors' at his church-----which I believe is in Shreveport, LA.

And, he told me 'he loves me!'

I want him to know, 'I love him!' And he is a special person in my life!

Today, again, I have lifted him up to our Lord in prayer------please, if you will, pray for him!

As life goes on, and our paths go different directions, and we 'lose touch' with special people-----then, there is a major challenge, or a major crisis, we are brought to reflect on that relationship. At this age, so many unique people have been brought into my life------and years ago, I did not understand 'there was a purpose or plan' that lead them there------it was not, and is not 'random'-----there are no accidents. We have a Sovereign God------our Creator-------and I am humbled as well as privileged to be able to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ------and I'm a trophy of His grace!

I take special comfort in that 'no matter what Steve's prognosis is here'-------we'll be together forever with our Lord in eternity! What a comfort! (Medical Doctors can make a diagnosis, but the prognosis is in the hands of our God!)

And for our close held loved ones-------what a comfort and blessing!

So, those precious relationships are never over if we rest in the Lord!

As this life passes, my hope is that I become even more bold to share the testimony of our Lord, and His Gospel------the 'good news' that He has redeemed us and through Him we can be reconciled to our Father in Heaven, forever!

To see 'the heart of God' one must reflect upon 'the cross' and what Jesus did there for all mankind. That love, fully demonstrated, can overcome all obstacles------and all sin!

Again, please lift up my friend, Steve Williams, as he faces this challenge.

In Him,

Bill Watts
