ANOTHER
OUTSTANDING AND VERY LOUD CROWD WITNESSED A GREAT NIGHT OF MID-SOUTH
WRESTLING ACTION ON OCT. 14TH AT GRENADA ,MS. THIS GREAT TOWN IS TURNING
INTO A HOTBED OF WRESTLING IN THE MAGNOLIA STATE. PROMOTER BUDDY HUGGINS
OUTBID OTHER SOUTHERN PROMOTERS FOR THE FIRST JUNKYARD DOG MEMORIAL
TOURNAMENT. RESULTS:
ROUND 1;
1. FORMER MID-SOUTH CHAMPION MICHEAL DARKHART DEF. NEWCOMER WILLIE D.
CHARISMA IN 7 MIN. WITH THE HARTBREAKER.
2. MAD DOG BUTCH WIGGINS DEF. THE SUPER ASSASSIN WITH A SUNSET FLIP
IN 5 MIN.
3. 400 LB. BABARAZ DEF. HAMMER HERRON IN 9 MIN. WITH INTERFERENCE FROM
DARKHART.
4. THE PURPLE HAZE RETURNED TO MID-SOUTH WRESTLING SUCCESSFULLY WITH
A D.Q. WIN OVER REVEREND HEAVEN LEE LOVE. LOVE PREACHED TO THE CROWD
FOR THE FIRST 8. MIN. OF THE MATCH, AND, AFTER DISCOVERING HE COULDN'T
GET A QUICK WIN OVER HAZE, WAS DISQUALIFIED FOR BRINGING A CHAIR INTO
THE RING. THIS COMPANY, BEING ONE OF THE FEW IN THE BUSINESS THAT STILL
BELIEVES IN THE "WRESTLING" PART OF THE BUSINESS, LOOKS DOWN ON F. O.'S
AND THE REFS WILL CALL A QUICK END TO A MATCH WHEN THIS SITUATION ARISES.
SECOND ROUND:
1. MAD DOG BUTCH WIGGINS DEF. BABARAZ IN 12 MIN. WHEN LUSCIOUS KENNY
VALIANT PUSHED BABARAZ OFF THE TOP ROPE WHILE ATTEMPTING A BIG SPLASH.
VALIANT CAME TO THE ARENA LATE CLAIMING 4 FLAT TIRES KEPT HIM FROM BEING
ABLE TO BE IN TOURNAMENT AS SCHEDULED.
2. MICHAEL DARKHART DEF. PURPLE HAZE IN 7 MIN. WITH A HARTBREAKER. HAZE
CONTROLLED THE MATCH UNTIL MAKING A FATAL ERROR, WHICH YOU DON'T DO
WITH THE CRAFTY DARKHART.
MAIN EVENT:
THE MIDNITE RIDER RETAINED THE MID SOUTH TITLE BY D.Q. OVER FORMER CHAMPION
VENOM. VENOM, CLAIMING A PROBLEM WITH HIS CONTRACT, TOOK THE REF AND
BUDDY HUGGINS TO THE BACK, WHICH ALLOWED REVEREND LOVE , BABARAZ, AND
DARKHART TO ATTACK THE RIDER. THE PLAN MIGHT HAVE WORKED, BUT AFTER
RETURNING TO THE ARENA, VENOM SEEMED TO GET MORE PLEASURE IN TRYING
TO DESTROY THE RIDER THAN IN WINNING THE TITLE. THE REF FINALLY HAD
ENOUGH AND DISQ. VENOM FOR BRINGING EVERYTHING HE COULD GET HIS HANDS
ON TO THE RING. VENOM MIGHT VERY WELL HAVE RECAPTURED THE TITLE ON THIS
NIGHT, AND MIGHT VERY WELL DO IT IN THE FUTURE, IF HE CAN DIRECT HIS
ANGER TOWARD CAPTURING THE BELT AND NOT TRYING TO PROVE TO THE WORLD
THAT THE RIDER IS INDEED THE JAGGED EDGE.
TOURNAMENT FINAL:
IN A SHOCKING UPSET, ROOKIE "MAD DOG" BUTCH WIGGINS WON THE J.Y.D. MEMORIAL
TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP OVER MICHAEL DARKHART! THIS WAS A VERY EVEN
MATCH, WHICH I'M SURE SURPRISED DARKHART. AT THE END, DARKHART'S EXPERIENCE
FINALLY TOOK OVER AND HE GOT THE HARTBREAKER. IN WHAT COULD ONLY BE
DESCRIBED AS A PAYBACK, HAMMER HERRON GOT ON THE APRON AND DARKHART
PROMPTLY PUSHED HIM TO THE FLOOR. HAMMER PULLED THE FORMER CHAMP'S LEGS
OUT FROM UNDER HIM, AND A HURT MAD DOG MADE THE PIN. DARKHART CLAIMED
THE BIG HAMMER HELD HIS LEGS DURING THE 3 COUNT, BUT THE REF COULDN'T
FIND ONE FAN THAT WOULD AGREE. A DAZED BUT PROUD WIGGINS EXCEPTED THE
WINNING PRIZE MONEY AND THE RETIRED NORTH AM. HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE BELT,
A TITLE HELD ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BY THE JUNK YARD DOG. CAN THE MAD
DOG BE THE NEXT PEOPLE'S CHAMP IN MID-SOUTH WRESTLING? POSSIBLY SO!
BUT, THIS BRINGS UP THE BIG QUESTION ONCE AGAIN: WHERE IS JAGGED EDGE?

2 HOT STORIES IN MID-SOUTH WRESTLING.
FIRST, AS MOST FANS KNOW BY NOW, JAGGED EDGE LOST THE MID-SOUTH TITLE
TO MISSISSIPPI CHAMPION VENOM IN GREENWOOD, MS. AND IT WAS A LOSER LEAVES
MID-SOUTH MATCH. LOOKS LIKE JAGGED EDGE WAS CAUGHT IN A SWERVE AS HE
WAS ORIGINALLY SLATED TO MEET THE 400 LB. BABARAZ. FOR REASONS UNKNOWN
TO THE PROMOTER, BABARAZ WAS CONSPICUOUSLY MISSING FROM THE ARENA. VENOM,
ALREADY DEFEATED IN A NON-TITLE MATCH BY KENNY VALIANT, PARADED TO THE
RING TELLING BUDDY HUGGINS HE SHOULD BE THE REPLACEMENT SINCE HE DEFEATED
JAGGED EDGE FOR THE MISS. CHAMPIONSHIP SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. ON THIS RARE
OCCASION, THE FANS AGREED WITH VENOM. TO THE SHOCK OF MANY, INCLUDING
MYSELF, VENOM DID INDEED DEFEAT EDGE FOR THE TITLE (WITH A LITTLE HELP
FROM MICHAEL DARKHART). NOW ON TO THE 2ND SHOCKER IN GRENADA, MS. SEPT.
16: VENOM, ALONG WITH DR.X, BRAGGED TO THE FANS ABOUT THE DEMISE OF
JAGGED EDGE IN MID-SOUTH WRESTLING. PROMOTER HUGGINS, NOT WANTING TO
LET THE FANS DOWN, GAVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE THE MATCHMAKER ON
THE NIGHT. ONE BY ONE, WRESTLERS WERE BROUGHT OUT AS POTENTIAL CHALLENGERS.
DR.X TOLD HUGGINS VENOM WOULD NOT WRESTLE BABARAZ OR DARKHART AS BOTH
WERE MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY. THEN, THE FATAL MISTAKE WAS MADE AS VENOM
TOLD HUGGINS HE'D TAKE ON ANYONE. MID-SOUTH MATCHMAKERS THEN TOLD THE
ANNOUNCER THEY HAD ONE MORE CHALLENGER. THE LIGHTS WENT DARK, THE CROWD
TOTALLY SILENT. A SONG NOT HEARD IN YEARS BLARED FROM THE SPEAKERS.
THE SILENCE WAS REPLACED BY A THUNDEROUS OVATION AS THE FANS NEW THEIR
HERO HAD RETURNED AFTER 15 YEARS. YES, IT WAS: THE MIDNITE RIDER THIS
MATCH HAD THE CHARACTER OF WRESTLING IN DAYS LONG GONE NOW. VENOM, SUFFERING
FROM 3 BROKEN RIBS, FOUGHT A VALIANT BATTLE BUT THIS NIGHT WAS NOT READY
FOR THE RIDER. EVEN DR.X'S ATTEMPTED INTERFERENCE WAS THWARTED BY THE
RIDER, AND ONE "THUMPEED" LATER, THE MID-SOUTH TITLE HAD CHANGED HANDS.
WHO IS THIS MIDNITE RIDER? HE WILL ONLY STATE THAT HE IS HERE TO PROTECT
THE TITLE UNTIL JUSTICE IS SERVED. THE FANS COULDN'T BE HAPPIER! VENOM,
WHO RETAINS THE MISS. TITLE BECAUSE IT WAS NOT ON THE LINE, SWEARS REVENGE.
IN OTHER ACTION, MICHAEL DARKHART GAVE MAD DOG BUTCH WIGGINS HIS FIRST
DEFEAT IN THE AREA. IN THE PROCESS, WIGGINS ALSO SUFFERED A CONCUSSION
AFTER TAKING SEVERAL HARTBREAKERS DURING THE MATCH. DARKHART BETTER
BEWARE BECAUSE THE MAD DOG IS BECOMING RABID! SPECIAL REFEREE, FORMER
LIGHTWEIGHT BOXING CHAMPION, RANDY PHILLIPS CALLED A HALT TO THE BABARAZ/
KENNY VALIANT MATCH WHEN THE ACTION POURED ALL OVER THE BUILDING AND
COULD NOT BE CONTROLLED. LOOKS LIKE IT'S GOING TO TAKE A CAGE, OR BETTER
YET, SOME BARB WIRE TO HOLD THESE 2 IN THE RING. WE'LL SEE. HAMMER HERRON
AND THE REVEREND HEAVEN LEE LOVE WENT TO A TIME LIMIT DRAW. NEWCOMER
LOVE TALKED HIS WAY OUT OF EVEN A POSSIBLE VICTORY BY RUNNING HIS MOUTH
OR AS HE CLAIMS "SERMONIZING" THE FIRST 8 MINUTES OF THE 10 MIN. TIME
LIMIT PUT ON THE MATCH. HAMMER WAS SEATHING IN THE DRESSING ROOM FOLLOWING
THE MATCH AS HE WANTS TO PUT THE REVEREND IN HIS PLACE. IN THE OPENING
MATCH, DR.X MADE IT A QUICK NIGHT AS HE DEFEATED THE 450 LB. MAN MOUTAIN
MAXIE IN 10 SECONDS. THIS WRITER DIDN'T SEE IT, BUT SOME FANS CLAIMED
VENOM ATTACKED MAXIE IN THE BACK OF THE ARENA ON THE WAY TO THE RING.
THE ACTION JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER AS MID-SOUTH WRESTLING,
MISSISSIPPI'S ONLY LEGIT WRESTLING ORGANIZATION, CONTINUES TO GIVE THE
FANS WHAT THEY WANT TO SEE, AND THAT'S WRESTLING AT IT'S BEST!

Extreme Midsouth Wrestling, Mississippi's
only legit wrestling organization, invaded Grenada, Ms. August 19,
2000. Another sell-out crowd enjoyed a great night of action on a
hot Miss. night. in the main event, Mid-South Champion Jagged Edge
retained his title by d.q. over former champ Michael Darkhart when
the 400 lb. Babaraz saved Darkhart from certain defeat by attacking
the champ. The fans would not leave the building until promoter Buddy
Huggins granted a match Sept. 16 between Jagged Edge and Babaraz.
Babaraz's manager, Dr.X, although absent on this night, will most
certainly be there as his top man shoots for the top title in the
southern states. In other action, Luscious Kenny Valiant and Babaraz
were out of control and very bloody causing the referee to throw the
match out. Newcomer "Hammer" Herron was the victor over Seno Medico
"Doctor Doom", and "Mad Dog" Butch Williams was the winner over the
Lightning Kid when Michael Darkhart interfered. Both the Kid and Williams
appear to be potential contenders for the Mid-South title in the future.
Mid-South Wrestling would like to thank the fans of Grenada, Ms.,
as well as all their fans in Ms., Ala., and Ark. for continuing to
support the area's only true wrestling promotion. "If it's not Extreme
Midsouth Wrestling, it's backyard!" "The Watcher."

Babaraz def Mr. nwa 7 min.
Sidenote: Dr. Death suppose to throw out first pitch of opening day
at the Greenville Bluesmen Baseball game. while getting ready for
pitch, a player from the visiting team took exception to a wrestler
being on the field. the player stormed to the pitching mound and proceeded
to give Mr. Williams a mouthful. Steve, being the "gentleman" he is,
talked the player down and into a handshake. of course, not wanting
baseball to get the upper hand on wrestling, the handshake was followed
by a short closeline which dropped the player like a rock. the player
was handcuffed and taken away by the sheriff's dept. and later released.

Tracy Smothers defeated Masked
Medic (7 seconds) with a reverse cradle. Following this match, Smothers
told the fans and promoter Buddy Huggins that he would like a little
stiffer competition, and to "bring on anyone and I'll knock 'em down!"
The people's champion, "The Jagged
Edge" defeated Venom (in a very grueling 17 minutes) with an inside
cradle. Venom had controlled the better part of the match and didn't
take the loss very well. Venom and his manager, Dr.X tried to turn Edge
into the people's pothole for the next 5 minutes. Jagged Edge finally
evened the odds with a chair and sent them both running (and rolling)
to safer ground.
Promoter Buddy Huggins gave Tracy
Smothers his wish and brought out the 400 lb. Babaraz. Mr. Smothers
was also informed that this would be a no dq.falls count anywhere match.
For 20 minutes these two beat the hell out of each other with everything
they could put their hands on including boards, pipes, chairs, barrels,
etc. The referee finally through the match out when he (and security)
could no longer keep any form of control, or for that matter, keep them
in the building. The fans definitely want to see this one again.
One half of two of the all-time
great tag teams came together as PG-13's Wolfie D and the Tommy Rogers
of the legendary Fantastics met wrestling's hottest tag team, the Lost
Generation. Former boxer Bob Sicero was brought in as special referee.
LG's drake immediately tried to intimidate Sicero but quickly found
out it wasn't going to happen. This was an evenly fought match and the
tag team expertise really showed for both teams. At the end, referee
Sicero had taken all of the abuse he was going to take, and showed the
temper he was known for in boxing circles. After being pushed around
for the last time, he dropped a right hand on Drake's jaw and Wolfie
D covered him for a rather quick three count. Lost Generation bitterly
argued about this one, and demanded a rematch. The fans want this one
back again.
The main event brought on a highly
anticipated match to determine the top wrestler in the South. Both titles
(and bragging rights) were up for grabs as Mid-South champion, the Experiment
met North American champion "The Black Sheep," Danny Roland. As usual,
the Experiment took control of the match with solid amateur wrestling
holds and had Roland squirming for a solid 10 minutes. Roland didn't
come to lay down on this night though, and fought his way back in the
match and finally taking control, showing that this belt wasn't just
handed to him. Roland had things going his way until he made a mistake
many other's have made and exposed himself to an armbar. Roland held
on as long as he could but had to submit. He had to realize that a rematch
would be a sure thing, but a broken arm wouldn't make it happen any
faster. To everyone's surprise, the Experiment spoke for the first time
to the crowd. He claimed he was tired of the "gimmick" of the Experiment
and promptly removed the hood exposing himself to be Michael Darkhart.
The jagged edge came to the ring challenging Darkhart to a title shot,
which was quickly accepted. Darkhart just as quickly showed Edge it
wouldn't be easy, as he jumped him from behind and left him lying. Taking
the belt from Darkhart isn't going to be an easy task for anyone. He
now holds two title belts that have a solid history dating back to the
70's with Cowboy Bill Watts, Waldo von Erich, and the legendary Spoiler,
to the 90's with Stan Hansen, the Super Destroyer, Cactus Jack, and
others. Can Darkhart add his name to this list of legends? I say it
is quite possible.
